We Make Music Scotland Conference 2025

This two-day event is designed for instrumental teachers, freelance musicians and community music practitioners. Explore the future of music education through a programme of inspiring speakers, practical workshops, panel discussions, research presentations and networking opportunities. Hear performances from young people from across Scotland and visit MEPG Partner’s trade stalls.

Thursday 3rd September

Day 1 includes keynote presentations, strategy discussions and thought-provoking sessions exploring the current landscape and future direction of music education in Scotland and beyond.
Delegates can choose from a wide range of practical workshops, panel discussions and networking opportunities covering conducting, inclusive practice, singing, group teaching, composition, leadership, advocacy, instrumental teaching and partnerships between schools, families, and community music organisations. There will also be instrument focused discussions for instrumental teachers. 

Friday 4th September

Day 2 focuses on innovation, progression and wellbeing in music education, featuring sessions exploring creative approaches to teaching, improvisation, music technology, feedback, inclusion and supporting young people through diverse musical journeys.
Delegates can take part in practical workshops and discussions covering traditional music, music careers and progression pathways, musicians’ physical health, body percussion and rhythm-based group work, group singing and even the opportunity to perform as part of a street band, with networking and peer learning opportunities throughout the day.
