Spotlight On… Reeltime Music

For over 20 years, Reeltime Music has aimed to bring about a positive change in the lives of disenfranchised young people in North Lanarkshire by providing affordable recording and rehearsal services; music workshop and training provision, as well as volunteering opportunities, and engaging in numerous partnership projects.

The Young Sound

Reeltime1

The Young Sound is a music group for young people aged 14+, and meet every Wednesday and Friday evening between 6-9pm at Reeltime Studios in Newarthill. In the Young Sound you can receive instrumental instruction, work in bands, create original material, and work towards live performance and recording opportunities.

Tempo

Tempo runs on Mondays from 6-8pm, and looks to engage with new young people aged 13 and over who would benefit from involvement with other young people and with music. The project provides a place for young people to explore and develop their musical skills, get to meet similar young people and work together on creative projects.

Access To The Creative Industries (College Access Course)

Reeltime have partnered up with New College Lanarkshire to deliver an Access to the Creative industries course on Wednesdays from 10am-4pm. This is a stepping stone course which can lead to further opportunities within New College Lanarkshire..

The course involves a practical induction to both studio based music creation and video production, giving young people the opportunity to try different music and media activities within the creative industries.

Reeltime2

The Reeltime Studio is a professional, fully equipped facility based around Pro Tools HD technology, and a great selection of microphones and outboard equipment.

The acoustically designed live area can accommodate large sessions whilst being suitable for the most intimate of recordings.

Recording is extremely cheap, from £18 per hour (with engineer) with a full range of discounts for school pupils, students, & those in receipt of benefits.

Reeltime are also fully equipped to offer Portable Recording, a popular choice for large choirs, bands and orchestras.

Rates for portable recording start from £21 per hour (with engineer)

Reeltime4

Reeltime have 20 years’ experience in working in partnership with the voluntary and public sector to deliver quality workshops, tailored to the needs of young people, and fully devised with the Curriculum for Excellence in mind. All sessions are continuously improved to include the feedback from young people and incorporate the latest techniques.

As a sustainable charity, Reeltime have price ranges to suit the smallest organisations to larger local authorities.

One Off Recordings

Reeltime offer a range of one-off and taster workshops suitable for all events, projects and groups. Our unique blend of youth work and creative industry techniques are suitable for all ages and all abilities and some examples include: Instrument Tasters, DJ Workshops, Media Challenges, and many more. 

Short-Term Workshops

Reeltime have a successful track record working with groups of young people over 6-12 weeks periods to produce something to be proud of whilst building confidence and learning new skills. Working in groups of between 4-15, young people can take part in a variety of activities including: song writing, producing music videos and performing live.

Long-Term Workshops

Reeltime can also provide a variety of long-term workshops for more long term interventions and sustainable partnerships.
