Mini Music Makers

Mini Music Makers is delivered in Glasgow, Linlithgow, Dollar and Stirling. NYCOS sessions for babies and toddlers use singing, movement and play to support cognitive, language and motor skills. The emphasis is on fun: tickling games, bouncing songs and lullabies which bring music to life.
The weekly 40-minute classes provide parents/carers and children the opportunity to make and enjoy music together in a fun and friendly setting. These playful sessions are an engaging introduction to music and provide quality time.

NYCOS Chamber Choir

NYCOS Chamber Choir is a choir for very experienced 18-25 year old singers. Members of the Chamber Choir are chosen from existing NYCOS members, but membership is entirely free. The Chamber Choir was formed in 2022 to offer additional high-level performance opportunities to experienced National Youth Choir of Scotland singers.
National Boys Choir

The National choir for boys is for singers aged 10-17, and is split into three stages dependent on age and experience. These stages are: The training choir, National Choir, and the Changing Voices Choir. Fees are currently paid in 3 instalments of £165 for National Boys Choir and Changing Voice Choir or 3 instalments of £135 for the Training Choir. National Girls Choir

The National Girls Choir is for singers aged 12-17, and is split into two stages dependent on age and experience. These stages are: The Training Choir and National Choir. National Youth Choir of Scotland

The National Youth Choir of Scotland is a for outstanding singers aged 16-25. The National Youth Choir of Scotland is Split into three stages; The NYCOS Touring Choir, NYCOS Scotland and the NYCOS Training Choir. Fees are paid in 5 instalments of £113 for NYCOS Scotland or 5 instalments of £103 for NYCOS Training Choir. NYCOS Touring Choir costs will be communicated to members.

NYCOS run 14 regional choirs around Scotland that act as feeders for the national choir, as well as providing more geographically accessible opportunities to participate in high quality choir settings.

Training for Music Practitioners

NYCOS works in a variety of ways to support music education at all levels, providing training for music practitioners, specialist and non-specialist teachers at primary, secondary, further and higher education levels. NYCOS is regularly called on to provide training for local authority partners and non-formal sector organisations such as Sistema Scotland, Scottish Book Trust and Live Music Now. Current pricing around £139 per course, although some are free of charge.

Musicianship and Methodology Classes

Since July 2020, NYCOS have been running online courses in Musicianship and Methodology and engaged with musicians, class teachers, students and specialists from 23 countries across the world as well in the UK. These classes are accredited in partnership with British Kodály Academy through CPD UK, but assessments are optional. NYCOS offers single training days on our Bronze, Silver and Gold musicianship programme. NYCOS offers the opportunity to sit accredited modules.
Kodály Summer School

The annual summer school in Edinburgh (and online in 2020 and 2021) offers the opportunity for teachers to have an intensive week of training in the Kodály approach, providing them with inspiration and experience to improve the music provision in their own settings. Kodály Summer School is open to class teachers, instrumental teachers, students, nursery practitioners, freelance musicians and anyone interested in music education.

NYCOS also have a range of online video resources in video format, recorded initially during lockdown. These video resources are intended for carers, parents and children to use at home or to be adapted by specialist and non-specialist teachers to just use the clapping and body percussion elements.
