Spotlight On…Drake Music Scotland

Drake Music Scotland empowers disabled artists and musicians to change music for good. Create, our flagship artist-led programme supports disabled and neurodiverse composers and performers to create high quality artistic work and present it in mainstream settings. We work with them to improve career development and employment opportunities, breaking down disabling barriers to full participation in the mainstream music sector in Scotland, the UK and beyond.

Our music education programme Learn builds on our excellent track record of leadership in our sector in a national drive towards making Scotland a world centre for excellence and inclusion in music education. We support the transitions of young disabled musicians to strengthen musical pathways beyond school, with a focus on those wishing to gain further training and experience into adulthood.

Figurenotes

https://figurenotes.org

Figurenotes is an alternative form of notation that uses colour and shape. Figurenotes was initially designed to enable those with learning disabilities to play music, but it has since developed into a tool to help anybody get started. Because of it’s literal and intutitve nature, Figurenotes is ideal for beginners, those with additional support needs and for anyone who has ever struggled with notation.
